Watercolor Distress

I taught a class on Distress Inks and one of the techniques I demonstrated was how to paint on watercolor paper.  The flower for this card was created using this technique.  I embossed the flower image with black embossing powder and then painted it using a combination of reds and pinks.   I stamped the leaves directly on the designer paper and colored them in with Copics.  It surprisingly creates an opaque look and you can see a glimmer of the paper's design showing through the leaves.  The leaves were then covered with Diamond Glaze to give it some dimension.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Paper Inspirations "thanks", Hero Arts "layered flowers"
  • Distress Inks: Fired Brick, Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar, Tattered Rose
  • DP: SU (it's an old Valentine's paper)
  • Diamond Glaze, Copics
