Sister Stamps Release #6 - Daba

Hi Everyone!  Here's my project for the final day of Sister Stamps Release #6 and I'm featuring Daba.  I created an egg ornament to feature this oh so cute bunny! I used to decorate eggs like this when I was a child and I've been wanting to get back into it.  I used to make them fancier and more detailed and some even had little scenes in them.  But it's been awhile so I kept this simple as I had to experiment to refresh my memory.

Here's how I did it:  I blew out a jumbo chicken egg by poking a hole on top and on the bottom.  I rinsed it out and let it dry overnight. I brushed on a couple coats of Mod Podge and let it dry - this helps to harden the egg and make it a bit less fragile.  Then I stamped Daba on some pink tissue paper with StazOn and cut it out.  The image was adhered with Mod Podge, but had to be handled gently or it would have torn.  After letting it dry, I put on another coat of Mod Podge.  To make it fancier, you could put a coat of diamond dust of clear micro beads, but I need more practice with that.  Then I added the trim, pearls, gold finding and twine. I had a hard time getting the gold finding to stay on so if you use a good glue to adhere metal, let me know. That about sums it up.  The pink tissue is brighter than I expected, but I think this bunny would look cute no matter what color it is.  Here are some close ups.

Sister Stamps Release #6 - Masa

It's day two of Sister Stamps new release and today I'm featuring the delightful Masa.  What an adorable image!

Decorating a paint can in no new concept, but they recently caught my eye at a local craft store and I thought it would be fun to play with.  I started with PTI's "Egg Hunt"paper pack and this was the inspiration for my color palette.  I used it as the background and also made triangular pennants to create a simple banner.  I embellished the image with some ribbon and buttons and finished it off with some leaves.  I had some yellow trim and I think this really completed the project.  For the cover of the can, I wove some baker's twine through a doily, added my sentiment and embellished it with more foliage and a butterfly. Here are some close ups.

Sister Stamps Release #6 - Akemi

It's springtime with Akemi and her friends and aren't they the sweetest.  I'm here with Sister Stamps' 6th release and today's image was designed with co-owner, Jenny's daughter in mind.  You can read the story HERE.

I love Easter and couldn't resist creating a little basket to fit this most adorable image.  I wanted to add some texture to the basket so I snipped some crepe paper and adhered it to the inside.  I punched out two different layers of borders to create the grass and Akemi's kimono is paper-pieced with washi paper.

Here's a close up of the side of the basket.

Now a release wouldn't be complete without some candy so here's your chance to win.  Just follow this blog and post a comment on THIS POST.  Simple right?  Winners will be announced on March 1 so don't forget to come back to see if you've won.  This month's guest designer is none other than the super talented Donna Mikasa.  Welcome Donna!  Check out her blog as well as Sister Stamps' blog for more awesome inspiration!  The stamps from release #6 will be available on March 1.

Spring is in the Air

Hi there!  Here's a card inspired by the designer paper, SU's new Blossom punch and coordinating stamp set. Love them!  I used white embossing powder on lavender cardstock for the blossom and played around with some buttons and rhinestones to create the accent flower.  The cheery Doodlebug paper set the tone for this card and it just makes me happy!  Sure feels like spring is in the air!
