It's a Mermaid kind of Thank You

I hope everyone is having a great week.  This week is crawling by for me, but I've somehow had the energy to cook more than normal.  Honestly, it's probably because my husband's friend is staying with us    and I want to make sure he eats well.  I tried a few new recipes and I'm happy to say I'll be adding them to my recipe box.   Tonight's menu: summer salad with cranberries, nuts, apples and cheese, sweet and sour spareribs, edamame rice and for dessert, sweet potato tapioca.

Well enough about my cooking and onto my card.  I recently got the Cutttlebug Bubbles embossing folder and wanted to try it out.  It inspired me to use Your Next Stamp's "Happy Day Mermaid" set and make a card like one I had seen Kerri Michaud create.

Supplies:
Stamps: Mermaid, crab - Your Next Stamp "Happy Day Mermaid", Thank You - SU "Wow Flowers"
Embossing Folder - Cuttlebug Bubbles
Copics
Cardstock: Bazzil
Stickles, Pearls

Oh Boy, It's a Boy

My husband's co-worker just returned from maternity leave so I got to shop for the little one and make a card, of course.  This cutie from Pink Gem is always a delight to ink up and color.  Now if someone would just have a girl, so I can ink up that little cutie patootie!

Happy Birthday Michele

Yesterday was Michele's birthday (owner of Island Scrapbooking) and this is the card I made her.  I'm finally learning to use the double sided paper on one card. Duh, I know they're made to coordinate, but for some reason, I'd always look for other paper to match.  On this card, the polka dot DP is on one side and strawberries on the other.  I inked up CC Designs' Swiss Butterfly Nora and used a Stampendous sentiment which I thought was perfect for the occasion.   IS is a special place for paper crafters here in Hilo and Michele has not only created a gathering place where we share creative ideas, get inspired and learn, but most significantly, it is a place where hang out, laugh and enjoy many friendships!  Happy Birthday Michele!

Supplies:
DP: Cosmo Cricket
Stamps: CC Designs - Swiss Butterfly Nora, Sentiment - Stampendous
Copics
White Embossing Powder
Cardstock, Ribbon, Crystal Stickles

Sweet Susan

A friend's birthday is coming up at the end of the month so I decided to ink up this Elisabeth Bell sweetheart called Susan.  I have the most fun with these images because you can see them come to life as you're coloring.  You may already know this, but I thought I'd share anyway.  I was trying to find a teal paper to match the girl's pants so I could punch out a butterfly.  Nothing matched so I colored some white cardstock with the same Copics I used to color the pants and then punched out the butterfly.  Perfect match!

Supplies:
Stamp: Girl - Elizabeth Bell "Susan", Happy Birthday - SU "Teeny Tiny Wishes"
Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug "Birds & Swirls"
Punches: Butterfly - EK Success, SU Modern Label, SU Word Window
Spellbinders: Labels Four
Copics, Stickles, Diamond Glaze, Ribbon

Hearts Hearts Everywhere!

I just love these easel card boxes.  They're cute and fun to make.  I paper pieced Lil' Bug Emma's clothes with the Doodlebug heart paper because no matter what color I colored her, it didn't seem cute enough.  This, I'm happy with!  Happy TGIF!  It's a quick post today and hope you all have a great weekend!

Faux Leather Money Gift Holder

These faux leather wallets were made as money holders for graduation gifts but can be changed for any occasion.  I combined a few things I learned from other blogs to create this.  I started by just doing these for males, but then tried other embossing folders and fun cardstock colors for women and loved how they turned out.

There are pockets on the inside and a sentiment card is on the left and gift enclosure card on the right (with enough room to write your personal sentiment)
As you can see, there is a slot to put your cash or check as if it were a real wallet.  The "dreams" sentiment and graduation cap stamp are from PTI.  Sorry, I don't know where the "congratulations' sentiment is from.

Tiddly Inks Buggy Blog Hop

Hi Everyone -- Happy Saturday!  It's Tiddly Inks Buggy Blog Hop Time, so welcome and thanks for stopping by.   If you haven't started from the beginning, you can start here.  Make sure to leave comments so you'll be eligible to win one of three prizes.  Winners will be announced on the Tiddly Inks Blog on May 10.

Okay, on to my card.  I created a scene using two bugg images (Sunny Hugg a Bugg and Spring Hugg a Bugg) and thought it would be fun to have them hang out together.  Sunny is doing what she loves best - reading and taking a nap (Do you like the book she's reading?) while the Spring Buggs enjoy the sunshine and play in the grass and flutter about.  Not one has a care in the world....so Life Is Good!

To continue on your way to the next blog, check out what great things Amy Y. has in store for you.

Have a FANTASTIC weekend!

Supplies:

  • Digi Stamps:  Sunny Hugg a Bugg, Spring Hugg a Bugg - Tiddly Inks
  • Stickers: Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type
  • Copic Markers
  • Stickles: Crystal
  • Cardstock: Bazzil

Fleur Anya Friday

Isn't she sweet?  This new little Anya stole my heart and I decided to ink her up for an Island Scrapbooking Card Swap card.  I embossed her in white on red cardstock and built this card from there.  After playing with various paper flowers to embellish this card, I wasn't satisfied with any of them.  I finally ended up pulling out my stash of ribbon flowers and it seemed to work best.  Sometimes embellishing a card is the most challenging.   Anyway, thanks for stopping by and come back again tomorrow to see what I've cooked up for the Tiddly Inks Blog Hop!   Happy TGIF!

This is my second post today because I decided to enter the Tiddly Inks Challenge at the last minute.  Call it procrastination or needing a break...bottom line is there's so many other things I SHOULD be doing, but I decided to give this a shot.  So here's my Mother's Day card using a Tiddly Inks Annie image.  If you've been thinking about adding some of these digis to your collection, there's a 50% off sale on Wednesday, May 5 so mark your calendars.  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Girl - Tiddly Inks Annie digi, Ticket: SU Admit It
Spellbinders: Labels Nine
DP: My Minds Eye "Berry Preserves"
Lace, Ribbon, Copics, Cardstock

Elegant Sympathy

I just love this Amy R Sympathy Sentiments stamp set.  I was nicely surprised at how the flower image stamped and the final look reminded me of a letter pressed card.  It took everything in me to stay away from ribbons and bling but I felt it was more appropriate to keep a sympathy card classy and simple.

I was excited about the end result of this card and made a few more for the FCE Fair I'm participating in this weekend.

Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Amy R Sympathy Sentiments
  • Ink: Black-Memento Tuxedo Black, Orange-Versa Color Orange
  • Cardstock: Bazzil

Happy 1st Birthday Emily

Our neighbor's daughter is turning one and this is the card I made for her.  I didn't know how I was going to use this DP when I bought it but I had to have it because it was so cute!  It ended up being the perfect paper for this card and no stamps were used.  I printed the sentiment using the Curlz MT font and I cut out the teddy bear and rabbit from the DP.  Sweet and simple!

Supplies:

  • Spellbinders Label Four
  • DP: Crate Paper "Paper Doll"
  • Font: Curlz MT
  • Ribbon, Button, Cardstock
